Resuelvan EN SUS CUADERNOS (no se calificarán impresiones sueltas o pegadas) las preguntas PARES de las páginas 518, 519 y 520. Recuerden que no es necesario copiar los problemas ni hacer dibujos a menos que la pregunta lo pida, pero si es necesario realizar todas las operaciones en el cuaderno. No se permite el uso de calculadoras aunque la pregunta así lo especifique. Por esta razón, tareas que solamente presenten las respuestas sin sustentación en las operaciones necesarias para hallarlas, no representarán una buena calificación.

PARA LOS PADRES:

El mensaje anterior es una recomendación para que los estudiantes aprovechen la semana de receso para descansar y disfrutar del tiempo con la familia pero también para reforzar los contenidos en cada materia con el fin de prepararse para las pruebas acumulativas de fin de período.

En cuanto a la clase de matemáticas, los estudiantes no tienen asignada una tarea obligatoria. Cada uno es responsable de revisar sus resultados en los quizzes presentados hasta el momento y decidir qué temas necesitan de práctica. Para dicha práctica se recomienda que usen los recursos que se encuentran en el sitio www.coursecompass.com. En dicho sitio hay ejercicios adicionales, videos y otras ayudas para apoyar a los estudiantes en su aprendizaje.

Esta tarea no es obligatoria pero aquellos que la presenten obtendrán una calificación adicional.

ATTENTION: IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE MATH CLASS

Hello kiddos

Now that you are all getting ready for the coming break try to use that time wisely.

You should relax and get some rest to recharge your batteries for the second part of this first period but you also must practice and review those contents in which you feel you are not strong enough yet.

Keep in mind that a few days after we come back from this break, you are going to take the accumulative exams of each subject. These exams represent 30% of your final grade.

Now, about math, you must be responsible and decide whether you need to practice or not. My suggestion is for you to practice even if you are currently passing the class. How do you practice on your own? By using all the tools and resources found in www.coursecompass.com.

Check you notebook and the grades you have got in your quizzes and focus on those contents in which you had special difficulties. Go to the corresponding chapter in the platform and solve the problems in the Multimedia Textbook Exercise Set or in the Extra Practice Exercises. You can also watch the videos or go to the Tracked Tutorial Exercises to get some extra support.

BE RESPONSIBLE! You are high school students and you need to be aware of the amount of work required to learn and to pass the mathematics class. I am not going to demand this homework from you but if you decide to turn it in, I will grade it as an extra credit.

TAREA SOBRE CÍRCULOS

Hola jóvenes de grado octavo.

La siguiente es la tarea sobre círculos:

De coursecompass, Section 7.5 Circles, resuelvan en su cuaderno los problemas pares de las páginas 506, 507 y 508. No es necesario dibujar las gráficas o copiar los problemas de texto pero si deben mostrar todo su trabajo (sumas, restas, multiplicaciones y divisiones). No deben usar calculadora.

No se aceptarán impresiones pegadas o sueltas.

Fecha de entrega: Martes 27 de septiembre. El quiz sobre este tema está programado para el miércoles 28 de septiembre.

Recuerden que el lunes 26 de septiembre ustedes presentarán el quiz sobre congruencia y semejanza de triángulos. La tarea sobre este tema debe ser entregada el viernes septiembre 23. Los cuadernos deben ser entregados al comité académico antes de las 7:30 am.

TAREA DE MATEMÁTICAS

Hola estudiantes de grado octavo.

Esta semana continuaremos estudiando los contenidos correspondientes a triángulos congruentes y similares.

La siguiente es la tarea que debe ser presentada el viernes 23 de septiembre. Cada uno es responsable de entregarme en el salón de maestros el cuaderno de matemáticas a las 7:30 a.m. o antes:

Sección 7.8 de www.coursecompass.com en las páginas 535, 536, 537 y 538. Solamente los ejercicios pares. Recuerden hacer todo el trabajo incluyendo los cálculos y operaciones en su cuaderno de forma ordenada y clara.

A pesar de que la tarea es para el viernes, las dudas sobre ella serán resueltas el día miércoles 21 de septiembre en clase. Por esa razón es recomendable que trabajen en la tarea hoy y mañana.

La prueba escrita correspondiente a este tema será el día lunes 26 de septiembre.

To avoid some problems with the coursecompass or MyMathLab platform you should use Internet Explorer. It seems like the programs don´t run properly when using Mozilla or Google Chrome. Remember that Java is required to open the tools and exercises. You must allow Pop-ups in your personal computer to see all the windows.

If you still have difficulties look for me during recess or after lunch before the bell.

HOY DEBEN ENVIAR LA TAREA DE C.a.R.

Hasta el día de hoy solamente un estudiante de grado octavo se ha acercado para obtener una copia de los archivos ejecutables de C.a.R. en su memoria USB. Eso quiere decir que TODOS han podido descargar el programa y por lo tanto no debe haber excusas para no enviar la tarea completa y a tiempo antes de la medianoche del jueves.

EVALUACIONES DE MATEMÁTICAS ESTE LUNES

Aún no han presentado el quiz sobre perímetros y áreas de triángulos y otras figuras planas. Dicho quiz será el próximo lunes 12 de septiembre. Para prepararse para este quiz basta con repasar y practicar los ejercicios de la tarea correspondiente en coursecompass.

El quiz sobre las líneas y puntos notable de un triángulo será el día martes 13 de septiembre. Para prepararse para este quiz resuelvan la siguiente tarea en su cuaderno:

Construyan las medianas, mediatrices, alturas y bisectrices así como los puntos donde se cruzan en:

Un triángulo rectángulo
Un triángulo isósceles
Un triángulo obtusángulo

La calidad y exactitud de sus gráficas será tenida en cuenta para la calificación. Esta tarea debe ser presentada el lunes 12 de septiembre.

MATH CLASS: IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Hello sixth graders:

About the PIN:

I know that we have had some difficulties not only to buy it but also to use it at home. But it has been almost a month since the beginning of this school year and last week I posted a message in this same blog announcing the visit of the publisher representative. Only a few brought the money to buy it. Since most of the students have been able to use it and do the homework, there will not be more extensions and from now on every one of you is responsible for either run copies of the exercises or to find another solution. Something else: from now on ALL HOMEWORK MUST BE DONE IN YOUR NOTEBOOKS AND YOU MUST SHOW ALL THE WORK IN AN ORGANIZED MANNER. I will not grade any more homework done in separated sheets of paper unless I tell you different.

About C.a.R.: Since some of you have had difficulties downloading and using this software, the new due date for the assignment is Thursday September 8th. Only those files sent before midnight will be considered for grading. You must bring your USB memory as soon as possible and ask David Contreras to help you copying the software in it. We will continue using C.a.R. this year.


Keep in mind that this is EIGHT GRADE and you are responsible for all the work assigned in class.

The homework about perimeters and areas of triangles and other polygons was already checked and those grades are final.

There is more time to turn in or correct any project or model to demonstrate the Pythagorean Theorem. The new due date is September 8th.

Keep in mind that in math you must apply contents learned in previous lessons or even in previous years. That means that you need to review contents such as operations with integers, decimals and fractions to solve the problems you will find in this exam.

This is a message for those students who failed math in sixth grade. The exam to make up Sixth Grade Mathematics is scheduled for Wednesday June 8th. Seventh graders don´t have any other exam scheduled for that day. The exam in going to include everything you studied in class last year:
